NFB’s 52nd season begins with The Nutcracker at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center Friday and Saturday, Nov. 19 and 20 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 21 at 2:30 p.m. NFB’s 42nd annual production of The Nutcracker is the only full-length version in the area and features a cast of more than 140 performers including international guest artists and over 100 local children.

The NFB Symphony Orchestra, led by music director and conductor David Ott, will provide musical accompaniment for all public performances. A VIP party will be held immediately following the performance on Nov. 19 exclusively for season subscribers, cast, staff and special guests.

NFB will return to the Mattie Kelly Arts Center again in the spring with Beauty & The Beast Saturday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 13 at 2:30 p.m. This original production choreographed by NFB international guest artist and Mobile Ballet artistic director Katia Garza celebrates the 18th-century story with new choreography, exquisite costumes and enchanting set designs.

This tale, as old as time, has been beloved by generations of children celebrating the beauty and joy within. A VIP party exclusively for season subscribers, cast, staff and special guests will also occur immediately following the March 12 performance.

This unique mixed repertoire program will include such classical works as the Grand Pas de Deux from Don Quixote, Beauty and the Beast and Diana and Acteon, and contemporary works choreographed by NFB Artistic Director Todd Eric Allen and Camille Loftis. The program concludes with the audience favorite Jazz Swing, which expresses the joy of classical dancing to the rhythm of Jazz, choreographed by Fernando Bujones with music by Louis Prima and Eddy Higgins.
